DAY 1: This exciting trip begins in Moshi, Tanzania. You will have dinner and spend the night at Moshi's Mountain Inn. Final preparations will be made for your week of hiking.
DAY 2: Leave after breakfast for the Kilimanjaro National Park at Marangu. This is where your trek begins! Hike through the lush forest to Mandara Hut (9,000 ft. / 2,750 m) where you will stay overnight.
DAY 3: This morning you will leave the forest for an open grassy moorland. Follow the path until you reach Horombo Hut (12,000 ft. / 3,700 m).
DAY 4: Today you will continue your ascension as you hike past the last water point and reach the saddle, a dry area between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. You will overnight at Kibo Hut (15,000 ft. / 4,700 m).
DAY 5: An early start is required today for the stiff walk up steep and heavy scree to reach Gillman's Point (18,640 ft. / 5,896 m) in time for sunrise! From here it is possible to continue to Uhuru Peak (19,340 ft. /5,896 m), the highest point in Africa. Afterwards, descend to Horombo Hut for a well deserved night of rest.
DAY 6: Complete your excursion by returning to the Marangu Gate in the Kilimanjaro National Park. Here you will be driven back to the Mountain Inn in Moshi for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: Depart after breakfast.
Zanzibar Adventure |
You fly to Zanzibar in the morning. You will be met at the airport by a guide and transferred for a stone town tour. Here you will feel the pulse of Zanzibar and hear different dialects being spoken by the people at the Market. From there we proceed to the Anglican Church of Christ, built by Bishop Steers in 1874 on the site of the old slave market, you will see slave chambers where the slaves used to be kept, before shipment. Then a brief view along the beach road up to Forodhani Garden, The House of Wonders that was built in 1883. Afterwards a leisurely walk through the narrow streets of Stone Town the old part of Zanzibar town, where most of the houses date back to more than one hundred and fifty years, this part of town, where most of the houses date back to more than one hundred and fifty years, this part of town you will find a lot of exotic small bazaars and curio shops. Enjoy lunch in the beach restaurant of Mtoni marine centre. Afternoon at leisure. Return to the airport for your flight back to Dar at 1700 hrs.
